The JUCJET UV-K1 is a dual band handheld for licensed amateur operators. It transmits on the 2 m and 70 cm amateur bands at up to 5 W, and its wideband receiver covers 50–600 MHz — including the AM air band, FM broadcast radio and NOAA weather channels. Setting it up is quick: copy a frequency from a nearby radio, clone a whole radio over the air, or program it from a PC through USB-C. Factory-direct, sold and supported by JUCJET.

⚠️ Transmitting on amateur frequencies requires a valid amateur radio licence in your country. Receiving air band and weather broadcasts is listen-only — check local rules before you monitor.

What Sets It Apart

• 50–600 MHz wideband receive — listen to the AM air band (108–136 MHz, receive only), FM broadcast radio (76–108 MHz) and 10 NOAA weather channels (US/Canada broadcasts), with the manual's rated sensitivity of −123 dBm on the 136–470 MHz bands.
• Dual band amateur transmit, up to 5 W — selectable High/Mid/Low power. US version transmits on 144–148 / 420–450 MHz; EU/UK version on 144–146 / 430–440 MHz. An amateur radio licence is required to transmit.
• Set up without a computer — press F+4 and the frequency meter reads a nearby radio's frequency and CTCSS/DCS tone so you can save it as a channel; Air Copy clones settings wirelessly from one UV-K1 to another. PC programming is also supported through the USB-C port.
• 200 named channels — with editable names on a 1.44-inch colour display, custom power-on image, CTCSS/DCS, DTMF, 1750 Hz repeater tone, VOX, cross-band operation, multi-scan and keypad lock — the everyday ham features in one pocket-size radio.

Air Band, Receive Only

Tune the AM aviation band (108–136 MHz) to follow airport and en-route traffic. The UV-K1 cannot transmit there.

Copy a Channel in Seconds

Frequency meter (F+4): hold the two radios close with antennas fitted, read the frequency and tone, then save it. A strong signal is needed.

FAQ

Do I need a licence?
Yes, to transmit. The UV-K1 transmits only on amateur bands, and using them requires an amateur radio licence from your national regulator. It is not a licence-free PMR446 or FRS radio — if you need one of those, see our licence-free models.

Which transmit bands will my radio have?
The US version transmits on 144–148 and 420–450 MHz. The EU/UK version transmits on 144–146 and 430–440 MHz. Both receive 50–600 MHz.

Can I transmit on the air band?
No. Air band reception (108–136 MHz AM) is listen-only. Rules on monitoring aviation traffic differ by country, so check yours.

Does NOAA weather work outside North America?
The 10 NOAA channels receive US and Canadian weather broadcasts. Elsewhere those channels are usually silent; FM radio and the rest of the receiver work as normal.

Standard or Large battery?
The 1400 mAh version is the smallest and lightest (190 g). The 2500 mAh version adds about 22 mm of height and 70 g for longer time between charges. Both use the same charging base and USB-C top-up.

How do I program it?
Three ways: from the keypad and menu; by copying a nearby radio with the frequency meter (F+4) or from another UV-K1 with Air Copy; or from a PC through the USB-C port (USB-C data cable not included).

How far can it talk?
The manual gives no range figure and we do not quote one. With up to 5 W on 2 m / 70 cm, range depends on terrain, antenna height and obstructions: open, unobstructed line of sight goes furthest; buildings, trees and hills shorten it. A local repeater extends coverage.

Can I use it while charging?
You can listen, though reception may be weaker while charging. The manual says not to transmit while charging from the base or USB-C.
