Walkie Talkies for Warehouse & Logistics

Loading bays, pickers, forklift drivers and the office on one channel. A truck is early, a pallet is missing, a lane is blocked – radios cut the walking and the phone calls, and they work in halls where mobile coverage is poor.

EU and UK PMR446 teams: these radio examples are for EU/UK enquiries. Confirm the exact version, channels and conformity documents before assuming licence-free use; they are not US FRS advice. US buyers should start with the H888S FRS information and confirm their market before ordering.

A typical warehouse or logistics setup

  • Small warehouse or workshop (5–15 radios): 88E sets with speaker microphones so drivers keep both hands on the controls.
  • Multi-site operation (50+ radios): written quote with bulk stock or factory delivery, spare batteries, chargers and replacement units.

EP31 — other two-way radio options

  • Distribution centre (15–50 radios): EP31 for yard and dock staff, 88E indoors; separate channels for inbound, outbound and maintenance on request.

What matters on the floor

Check speech clarity in noise, speaker-microphone fit, any voice-activation requirement, runtime over your actual shift, and drop and moisture suitability on the exact units. Check simple operation with the staff who will use them. PMR446 is licence-free for business use – no coordination with a frequency authority.

How many radios and channels for a team of ten?

Warehouse Count the people who must speak at the same time, then add spares for handovers. Two 4-packs plus one 2-pack, or five 2-packs, make ten radios; pack sizes count separately toward volume discounts. Start with one shared floor channel; request a second for inbound, outbound or maintenance only if those teams should not hear every call. 88E is a planning starting point. Use the point-by-point checks below before relying on coverage.

Record each test point and the result

  • Hall ↔ yard: record both positions and whether the same short spoken message is clear, breaks up or cannot be heard in each direction.
  • Hall ↔ office and mezzanine: repeat the same check at the actual working positions and note any doors or obstacles between them.
  • Fully loaded racks: test the same links again when the racks are fully loaded; record any change in the result.
  • For your enquiry: list the positions where speech breaks up or cannot be heard, together with the radio model and site conditions.

At handover, keep charged radios ready for the next shift before putting returned radios on charge. Tell us the shift times, available charging points and how many spare radios you need beyond the simultaneous users.

On one channel, only one person speaks at a time. A separate channel also means that team will not hear the main channel unless someone switches. PMR446 has 16 channels; CTCSS/DCS sub-codes do not encrypt speech or extend range. These are planning examples, not verified deployments or a coverage guarantee. PMR446 is limited to 0.5 W ERP; floors, stairwells and equipment rooms change reception. Keep your existing emergency procedures.

Planning basis: 88E model notes, current pack-size tiers and the site conditions above; reviewed 25 September 2026. Tell us your country, simultaneous users, site and needed-by date.

Count radios and accessories separately. Do not read the radio count as one complete radio-and-accessory set per person; check which colleagues need an earpiece or microphone and count spare radios separately.
