The JUCJET TG-FR1 FRS is a license-free two way radio for families, campers and small teams in the United States: 22 FRS channels, 38 CTCSS and 82 DCS privacy codes, 10 NOAA weather channels, hands-free VOX, a built-in LED flashlight, a 1.3-inch color display and a 1200 mAh rechargeable pack that charges over USB-C – or standard AA batteries when the charger is out of reach. It is sold as a 2-pack in blue, orange or green. FCC ID: XBPTG-FR1. Quick start

  1. Charge first. Charge each 1200 mAh pack over USB-C from a phone charger, power bank or laptop with the cables in the box. Without the pack, the radio runs on standard AA alkaline batteries (not included) – never try to charge AA batteries in the radio.
  2. Same channel, same code. Set both radios to the same channel and the same privacy code (or code off). If you can hear another group but they cannot hear you, check that the CTCSS/DCS code matches.
  3. Talk. Press and hold PTT, wait half a second, then speak; release to listen. Only one radio can transmit on a channel at a time.
  4. Weather. A dedicated key brings up the 10 NOAA weather channels – useful at the trailhead or campsite before the weather turns.
  5. Hands-free (VOX), scan and flashlight. With VOX on, the radio transmits as soon as it hears your voice; switch it off if a radio keys up by itself in a noisy place. Scan looks for activity across the channels.

Channels & frequencies

The table is the standard 22-channel FRS plan set by FCC rules (47 CFR Part 95, Subpart B), not a readout of this radio’s factory settings. Channels 8–14 are limited by the rules to 0.5 W ERP; the FCC grant for the TG-FR1 lists up to 1.89 W ERP on the 462 MHz channels and 0.47 W on the 467 MHz channels.

CTCSS/DCS is selective squelch, not encryption; it does not make the channel private or increase range.

Range: what to expect

The manual does not state a distance and there is no verified field-test figure for this model. You get the most distance on open ground, water or hilltops with a clear line of sight; buildings, dense neighborhoods, forests and indoor walls cut it down sharply. Like other FRS handhelds, the TG-FR1 is made for short-range use – across a campsite, a trailhead or a worksite. Test coverage between your actual positions before you rely on it.

  • No programming software or cable is needed. Channel, privacy code, VOX and call tone are set from the radio’s own keys and menu. If your team needs a fixed channel plan across many radios, tell us in your quote request.

FAQ

Do I need a license?
No. FRS radios are license-free for personal and business use in the United States.
Will it talk to other FRS radios?
Yes. Set both radios to the same channel and the same privacy code (or code off). If you can hear but not reach another group, check that the CTCSS/DCS code matches.
How long does the battery last?
We have no verified runtime figure. Carry the USB-C cable or a few AA batteries for long days out.
Is it waterproof?
No IP rating is declared. Keep it out of rain and water. It is rated to work from −20 °C to +50 °C.
Can I use it in Europe or the UK?
No. FRS is a North American band. For Europe and the UK we list a separate PMR446 edition of the TG-FR1.
What if my TG-FR1 stops working?
2-year warranty and 30-day returns. Email ka@jucjet.com with your order number and a short description of the problem (charging, switching on, receiving or transmitting).
