JUCJET H888S is our licence-free FRS handheld for the United States: 16 preset channels, an earpiece for every radio, rechargeable batteries and desktop charging docks. This page covers set-up, channels, honest range, charging, accessories and where the radio may legally be used.

Quick start

  1. Charge every radio fully before first use — use the desktop charging dock or the supplied 2-in-1 Type-C cable.
  2. Switch on and set every radio in the group to the same channel number.
  3. Hold the radio upright, about 5 cm from your mouth. Press PTT, wait half a second, then speak.
  4. Release PTT to listen. Only one person can transmit on a channel at a time.
No licence, registration or SIM card is needed to use FRS radios for personal use in the United States.

The printed quick guide ships in the box with every set. The H888S manual is not yet in our online Download Centre — we are adding it. If you need a copy now, or you have lost the printed one, email ka@jucjet.com with your order number or the pack you bought (2, 4 or 6 radios) and we will send the PDF back to you.

The H888S has no PC programming software and no programming cable on our side: the 16 channels are preset in the radio and are selected with the channel switch. If you need radios you can reprogram from a computer, look at the models on the support overview instead.

Channels and privacy codes

The H888S has 16 preset channels. Two radios hear each other only when both are on the same channel number and use the same sub-audio setting (a CTCSS/DCS “privacy code”, or no code on both).

A privacy code is not encryption. It only keeps your speaker quiet until a matching tone arrives; anyone else on the same channel without a code can still hear you.

We do not publish the channel-to-frequency table on this page yet, because we want to print the figures that match the exact batch you received rather than a number copied from a catalogue. Need the frequency list for your set — for example to make it work with radios from another brand? Email ka@jucjet.com and tell us when you bought it; we will confirm against the production documentation.

What range you can actually expect

Range depends on terrain, buildings, weather and interference — not on the number printed on a box. Any walkie talkie advertised with a fixed “X miles” figure is quoting a best case over open water or between two hilltops, which you will rarely meet.

  • Inside a building, between floors or through concrete walls: often only a few rooms
  • Dense neighbourhood, shops, warehouse aisles: a few hundred metres
  • Campsite, park, school grounds, worksite: usually the whole site
  • Open flat ground with a clear line of sight: best case for this class of radio

Two things add more range than any hardware change: get higher, and hold the antenna vertical and away from your body.

Charging and battery

Every set ships with rechargeable batteries, a desktop charging dock per radio and a 2-in-1 Type-C charging cable, so you can charge at home or from a power bank in the field. The Amazon US listing for this model states an average battery life of 96 hours; treat that as standby time with light use, not as continuous talk time.

The H888S is not water resistant. Keep it dry; for wet-weather work choose a model with a stated IP rating.

Accessories and earpieces

Each radio already includes an original earpiece. The Amazon listing lists the H888S accessory socket as taking 3.5 mm and 2.5 mm plugs (the common two-pin layout).

We have not yet verified on a physical unit which of our spare earpieces and speaker microphones fit the H888S socket, so we do not list a compatible accessory here — we would rather not sell you the wrong part. Email ka@jucjet.com with a photo of your radio's accessory socket and the accessory you want, and we will confirm the fit before you order.

Can I use this radio outside the United States?

The H888S is our US version, built for the American FRS service. Europe's licence-free service is a different one — PMR446 — on a different band, so a US FRS radio is not a licence-free device in Germany, the UK or the rest of Europe, and we do not sell the H888S into those markets.

Do I need a licence for the H888S?
No. FRS radios are licence-free for personal use in the United States.
What is in the box?
Radios, one original earpiece per radio, rechargeable batteries, a charging dock per radio, a 2-in-1 Type-C charging cable, belt clips and antennas. The 2-Pack, 4-Pack and 6-Pack differ only in how many complete radios you get — every radio in every pack comes with its own earpiece, battery and dock.
Which pack should I choose?
2-Pack for a pair of people, 4-Pack for a family outing, a shop floor or a small crew, 6-Pack for warehouses, hotels, events and maintenance teams. Larger teams are usually better served by a volume quote.
Will the H888S talk to another brand's FRS radio?
Usually yes, as long as both radios are on the same FRS channel and use the same privacy code or none at all. Email us for the channel list if you need to match a set you already own.
Can I reprogram the channels from a computer?
No. The H888S channels are preset in the radio.
One radio in my set does not charge or transmit. What now?
