JUCJET H888S is our licence-free FRS handheld for the United States: a 16-position channel knob, an earpiece with every radio, a 1500 mAh rechargeable battery and a desktop charger per radio. Quick start
- Charge every radio fully before first use: 4–5 hours in the desktop charger, with the radio switched off.
- Turn the power/volume knob clockwise to switch on. Turn the channel knob so every radio in the group is on the same channel.
- Hold the radio upright with the antenna at least 2.5 cm (1 inch) from your face. Press PTT, wait half a second, then speak in a normal voice.
- Release PTT to listen. Only one person can talk on a channel at a time.
- Side key 2 (short press) switches the flashlight on and off. Side key 1 (hold) opens the squelch so you can monitor weak signals.

Channels and privacy codes
- The 16-position channel knob is preset at the factory, so radios from the same set talk to each other straight out of the box.
- The manual lists 22 memory channels across the FRS band (462.5500–462.7250 MHz and 467.5625–467.7125 MHz, 12.5 kHz spacing). Which channels sit on the 16 knob positions can be changed with the optional CPS programming software.
- Each channel can carry one of 50 CTCSS tones or 210 DCS codes (“privacy codes”).
For reliable two-way contact, put every radio on the same channel and either give them all the same privacy code or switch the code off on all of them. A radio with no receive code set will still hear traffic on that frequency that carries a code.
The manual does not include a table of which frequency sits on each knob position, so we do not publish one. Need to match a set from another brand? Email ka@jucjet.com with when you bought your radios and we will check against the production records.
Hidden settings — no computer needed
Hold PTT + Side key 1 while you switch the radio on, with the channel knob set to:

Factory defaults according to the manual: squelch level 4 (of 0–9), VOX level 2, time-out timer off.
Scan and the emergency alarm
According to the manual, channel scan and the emergency alarm on Side key 1 are switched on only through the CPS programming software. Scan additionally requires all 22 channels to be programmed; once it is set up, switching the radio on at channel 16 starts scanning, and channel 16 is the priority channel. If your radio does not scan or sound an alarm, those functions have not been programmed into it. The H888S programming software is not in our Download Centre yet — email ka@jucjet.com if you need it.
What range you can actually expect
Range depends on terrain, buildings, weather and interference — not on the number printed on a box. Any walkie talkie advertised with a fixed “X miles” figure is quoting a best case over open water or between two hilltops, which you will rarely meet.
- Inside a building, between floors or through concrete walls: often only a few rooms
- Dense neighbourhood, shops, warehouse aisles: a few hundred metres
- Campsite, park, school grounds, worksite: usually the whole site
- Open flat ground with a clear line of sight: best case for this class of radio
Two things add more range than any hardware change: get higher, and hold the antenna vertical and away from your body.
Charging and battery
- 3.7 V, 1500 mAh lithium-ion battery; a full charge takes 4–5 hours in the desktop charger.
- For the longest battery life the manufacturer recommends charging with the radio switched off and the battery run down, and charging between 5 °C and 40 °C.
- Battery save cuts consumption by up to 50% whenever no signal has been received for 5 seconds.
- Use only the supplied charger — a different charger can damage the radio.
Accessories and earpieces
Every radio already comes with its own earpiece. The manual specifies a 2-pin Kenwood-type accessory jack; our spare earpieces and programming cable use that same plug:

Can I use this radio outside the United States?
The H888S is our US version, built for the American FRS service. Europe's licence-free service is a different one — PMR446 — on a different band, so a US FRS radio is not a licence-free device in Germany, the UK or the rest of Europe, and we do not sell the H888S into those markets.
If you need licence-free radios for Europe, use our PMR446 models instead: 88E, EP31, T17 and T20. If you are unsure which version applies to the country you are in, email ka@jucjet.com before you buy.
FAQ
- Do I need a licence for the H888S?
- No. FRS radios are licence-free for personal use in the United States.
- What is in the box?
- The JUCJET set ships with radios, one original earpiece per radio, rechargeable batteries, a charging dock per radio, a 2-in-1 Type-C charging cable, belt clips and antennas — the 2-Pack, 4-Pack and 6-Pack differ only in how many complete radios you get. (The manufacturer’s manual lists the bare-radio contents: radio, 1500 mAh battery pack, belt clip, desktop charger and manual; the earpieces and Type-C cable are part of our bundle.)
- Which pack should I choose?
- 2-Pack for a pair of people, 4-Pack for a family outing, a shop floor or a small crew, 6-Pack for warehouses, hotels, events and maintenance teams. Larger teams are usually better served by a volume quote.
- Will the H888S talk to another brand's FRS radio?
- Yes, when both radios are on the same FRS frequency and use the same privacy code or none. Because we do not publish the knob-to-frequency table, email us if you need to match an existing set.
- Can I reprogram the channels from a computer?
- Yes — with the CPS programming software and a 2-pin programming cable. The software is not in our Download Centre yet; email ka@jucjet.com and we will help.
- How do I turn on VOX or change the voice prompts?

- One radio in my set does not charge or transmit. What now?
